When are games played?

Games are always played on a Saturday morning from the first week of April until the final week of August.

Under 6 games kick off at 9:00am and Under 7 games kick off afterwards at 10:00am

Where are games played?

Due to the size of our club in this age group, all games are played in-house at Henley Park on a Saturday morning against other Enfield teams, which makes it super convenient for parents who have children trying football for the first time. Kick off times vary between 9:00am to 10:30am depending on the schedule, which is formulated a week before the season starts (first week of April).

Can my child play with their friends?

Absolutely! At this age there is no grading therefore we encourage children to play with their friends. During the registration process there is a section which states “Do you have any preferred team or teammates?” Please write down your child’s friends name and we will do the rest!

Role of the coach

The 4 vs 4 mini game structure helps reduce the dependence of coaches intervening, which keeps the game flowing. Coaches in this age group are considered more like game day mentors who help facilitate the game and provide encouragement for the children. This helps create a positive environment which children can learn through the opportunity of spending more time on the ball to dribble, pass and shoot, building their cognitive thinking and maximising their learning.

When is training?

Training is conducted one night per week on a repetitive day which is convenient for the coach. Traditionally, most Mini Rovers train on a Thursday evening but again this is to the discretion of the coach as they are the ones who are donating their time to the club.

Many teams in this age group utilise the skill based Rovers Academy training. This is held on Thursday nights from 5pm-6pm and is an additional cost. For more information please click here

What are the rules?

Our club follows the Miniroos National Playing Format which are the official guidelines set by Football Australia and Football NSW. Additional to the rules found at the top of the page, the full rules can be found by clicking here

Uniform requirements

Uniforms for Football are simplistic. The following are what’s required:

  • Enfield Rovers playing strip (game shirt, socks and shorts) which are sold upon registration and collected at the canteen

  • Shin pads and soccer boots (not sold by the club)

  • Water bottle (supplied by parent/guardian)

  • Training apparel (optional)

Regarding training apparel and other Enfield Rovers gear which you can purchase, each sale generates 15% which goes towards helping our club financially. Please check out the training apparel range here

Are there referees at this age?

No. At this age the guidance on the field is conducted by the coach or a volunteer parent. There are no whistles and we encourage coaches to stop play to help teach the players the right way to play football. Remember, this age group is a critical time for children to develop confidence and competence in all areas of life, including football!

Our Mini Rovers teams fall in the under 6 and under 7 category. This age group sees most children start their football journey for the first time. This is the age where we encourage parents to help their children fall in love with the game.

The focus on this age group is for the players to have fun.  If the players are having fun, despite the score line, this will translate into building a passion for football which will see your child play for many more years to come.
