Ground closures are inevitable during the course of any season due to wet weather. These closures are completely out of the direct control of our club and Football Canterbury (our association). The decision rests in the hands of the council area in which the ground is located.

How to find out if your game is washed out

For age groups from Under 8’s and above, notifications of ground closures come through via the DRIBL app. If you have not saved your team on the DRIBL app then please click here for instructions on how to follow your team. If you do not have the DRIBL app then please click here to be redirected to the DRIBL website for our association and check the fixtures area. If enough notice is given we will also send out notifications to coaches and managers of your team but this is not always possible .

If your child is playing under 6’s and under 7’s, then there is no DRIBL allocated to the team and hence you will need to find out from your coach or manager if the ground is open. If they are unsure, they will contact our club for assistance. it’s important not to bombard the club directly regarding this as we have direct communication set up to all under 6 and under 7 coaches and managers.

DRIBL is not showing “washed out” and I am confused

A game is ONLY deemed as being officially washed out when the status of that game appears on the draw, in Dribl, as being WASHED OUT , even if Council wet weather hotlines and websites have contradicting information. If a team does not arrive for a game due to contradicting information which has been accessed from anywhere other than Dribl, that team will be seen as having forfeited the game. If in doubt, please double check with your your respective club.

IF A FIELD IS CLOSED, GAMES MAY BE TRANSFERRED TO OTHER FIELDS, AT VERY SHORT NOTICE, IF ANOTHER FIELD IS AVAILABLE, SO PLEASE CHECK THE DRAW CONSTANTLY.

Will DRIBL show any changes?

Absolutely. The following messages will appear:

PENDING: means the game is going ahead as per the details that appear, ie: date, time, field.

  • WASHOUT RESCHEDULE: means the field is closed, the game is washed out, and will be rescheduled to a later date.

  • WASHOUT CANCELLED: means the field is closed, the game is washed out and cancelled completely.

  • If your game disappears from the draw completely, it means that your game is in the process of being re-scheduled.

My team is playing on an All-Weather (Synthetic) field. Will this be closed?

Synthetic fields usually stay open unless there is a huge weather event such as lightening, hail or field flooding. Again, check DRIBL if you’re in any doubt.

For training, how do we know if Henley Park is open?

Usually coaches and managers are notified by the club if the fields at our home ground are closed, however you can also check the Burwood Council Wet Weather line on 9078-6170.
